America Meditates
Last night was an empowering experience. As I meditated with thousands around me, across the United States and the world, something inside me changed. I was awakened.
I was reminded that we are all one. No matter the color of our skin, no matter the religion or non-religion we practice, no matter if we resonate with a male, female, or neither, no matter if we are gay, straight, or neither. No matter what, every living human being is connected, and WE ARE ONE. I was reminded that peace and happiness reside within all of us, but the fast pace and material world we now live in can distract us. We are human beings. We are meant to BE, and not simply do. To be in the present moment each and every part of our lives. To stop focusing on the past, to stop searching for the future, but to be, right here right now. To stop numbing ourselves with whatever vice we choose, whether to drink alcohol, partake in drugs, mindless scrolling or searching on our devices, television overindulgence, excessive shopping, over sexual indulgence, enter your own vice here, etc. Stop floating through this life. Stop what you are doing, and rather, be.
I was brought to tears last night as my soul was moved. The tears were of happiness as I released sadness, anger, and hate I had been subconsciously holding on to deep within. I practiced yoga with hundreds, listened to the beautiful sounds of music that touched my soul, and mediated with thousands led by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, a world-renowned and recognized spiritual leader, in which to simply be in his presence was pure magic. My soul was moved. At that moment, I could feel I was a part of something bigger. I hugged strangers I didn’t know. I looked into their eyes and saw their inner beauty. I told them I loved them. We ended the evening with a Yoga Rave in which I felt the time had stopped and stood still as we danced and moved from our hearts. I was filled with such a beautiful energy. I felt more alive than I had in a long while.
Love your neighbor as if they were your own self. Love and be kind. Begin by loving within first and starting a small practice of sitting with yourself in silence. Begin to feel the magic and see the transformation of a daily practice. Quiet the world around you and tune within. I am so grateful to be a part of this movement happening in the world today.
